Anger is a very intense emotional reaction all people have felt in response to a situation. Anger is one of the most common emotional experiences that human beings share. Anger, stress, and anxiety are the many emotions that people experience throughout life especially during childhood. Oftentimes anger, is an unpleasant emotional feeling that is hard to control. Although anger is not a disease, but rather a problem that is not simple or easy to change. Most people who seek counseling, deal with anger or have dealt with anger in the past. One of my jobs as a Counselor is to determine the origin of the anger, so the person can experience freedom from anger. Un-repentent anger can grow into hostility and hatred. It is very important that we recognize anger and deal appropriately with it. There are several steps that I will list below on how to affectively deal with anger.
1- First acknowledge anger. A person cannot be healed if they don’t own their own anger.
2- Control your thought process- Problems of anger usually begin as seed thoughts of self pity, discouragement, jealousy, or some other negative thought.
3- Identify your causes of anger- Once you identify the causes of anger, begin to use different coping skills to alleviate anger, one step at a time.
4- Challenge irrational beliefs- Every irrational belief need to be identified and counter attacked with God’s word.
5- Do not allow every person or situation to determine your emotions- Being slow to anger and walking in Gods peace is a great way to live.
6- Consider goals for every relationship- Maintaining proper boundaries is at the utmost important to alleviate anger.
7- Develop a peace of mind- Taking time to work at changing anger responses develops an increasing sense of control and peace.
If you deal with anger, you will always run into situations that cause more anger. Please identify your anger, forgive, and repent. Anger left uncheck can be deadly. Deal with anger today and walk in Freedom.
