The Old-Testament was provisional. It was preparatory and intended to pass away. What the OT gave was not meant to satisfy, but only to awaken the expectation of something better to come, the New Testament. The greatest difference between the old and new covenant is that the old covenant, man had to prove to God what he could do. The New Testament, God proved to man what he could do. The Old Testament was depended on the priest for the forgiveness of sin once a year. They also was depended on the law written by Moses on stone, and also at least 600 other laws to live by. These were a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that the Israelites behavior reflected their status as Gods chosen people. These laws acknowledged their moral behavior, and their status as a godly example to other nations. There were three types of common Laws in the Old Testament.Ceremonial laws- These laws were known as the Customs of the nation,Civil laws- These laws governed Isreal as a nation under the leadership of God, and Moral laws- These laws related to justice and judgment often translated ordinances. After the birth of Jesus Christ, we are no longer under the Old Testament, but now under the New Testament, Grace, Hallelujah!
