Attachment styles are so important. The reason what we do is because of our relationship style or attachment style. Attachment styles are formed during our early years of life. A child depends on their mothers sensitive and responsive care. Our earliest relationships are profoundly important. There are four different attachment styles. The names of the attachment styles might vary depending on the author.
Ambivalent attachment style- Those who identify with this attachment style have the following characteristics:
I am not worthy of love, I am not capable of getting the love I need without being angry, clingy, or desperate. Those who identify with this style are not always sure of where they stand. Abandonment issues are great with this attachment style.
Avoidant attachment style- Those who identify with this attachment style have the following characteristics:I am worthy of love based on my success and accomplishments, I am capable of getting love, but I depend on myself, People are unwilling or incapable of loving me. People who identify with this style grow up hiding their feelings.
Disorganized attachment style-Those who identify with this attachment style have the following characteristics:
The grass is always dead on both sides of the fence, I’m not worthy of love, Others are abusive and I deserve it, they find darkness everywhere they go. People who identify with this style shows a combination of avoidant, ambivalent, and secure attachment styles.
Secure attachment style- Those who identify with this attachment style have the following characteristics:
I am worthy of love, I am capable of getting the love and support I need, they are confident about who they are and are able to trust others. Those who identify with this style are skilled at communicating their feelings and opinions.
Please remember no matter what attachment style you identify with, God is able to restore, heal and deliver what ever need you are lacking.
